What is Skin Mapping?
Skin mapping is a comprehensive screening process aimed at identifying and monitoring skin lesions that may become cancerous. It involves total body photography to create a baseline record of the skin, dermoscopy for detailed examination of lesions, and sometimes high-frequency ultrasound to assess deeper layers of the skin. By tracking changes over time and evaluating any suspicious areas, skin mapping enhances early detection and treatment of skin cancer, contributing to better patient outcomes.
How does Superficial Radiation Therapy work?
Superficial radiotherapy (SRT) is a treatment that uses low-dose X-rays to treat skin conditions like certain types of skin cancer and keloid scars. It works by targeting the problem area without harming the surrounding healthy skin. The treatment is quick, painless, and usually done without the need to stay in a hospital. Most people experience only minor side effects, such as redness or mild irritation where the treatment is applied.
